Por lo tanto juegan un rol fundamental en los an\u00e1lisis paleogeogr\u00e1ficos y estructurales, as\u00ed como en el establecimiento de los procesos que prevalecieron durante la acumulaci\u00f3n de los sedimentos.<br \/>\nLa clasificaci\u00f3n de las estructuras erosivas var\u00eda seg\u00fan los distintos autores. Resultan de la erosi\u00f3n de sedimentos finos y cohesivos (limo y arcilla). La turbulencia erosiona el material dejando una depresi\u00f3n asim\u00e9trica que se profundiza hacia el lado de donde viene la corriente. En planta poseen forma c\u00f3nica y se preservan como moldes. Son t\u00edpicos en dep\u00f3sitos turbid\u00edticos, tempestitas marinas y lacustres, y pueden aparecer en ambientes fluviales. Se generan por\u00a0la presencia de un patr\u00f3n subparalelo de v\u00f3rtices horizontales en flujos turbulentos, que redistribuyen el material formando surcos subparalelos. Se preservan como moldes. Suelen generarse durante tormentas en el <i>shoreface<\/i>. Generalmente aparecen en forma aislada en la base de bancos arenosos o calc\u00e1reos, rellenos de material m\u00e1s grueso. Se ven como crestas elongadas continuas en la base del banco arenoso y aparecen de forma aislada o en grupos paralelos. En corte vertical suelen tener relieve irregular. La marca en V se cierra corriente abajo. Indican polaridad,\u00a0direcci\u00f3n y sentido.<\/div>\n<div>\n<h2><b>Marcas de punzamiento<\/b><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div>Son marcas generadas por el impacto de objetos en el sustato. Generalmente tienen una direcci\u00f3n preferencial pero de gran dispersi\u00f3n. Aqu\u00ed se incluyen una gran variedad de marcas (<i>prod, bounce, skip marks<\/i>) de las cuales s\u00f3lo las <i>prod marks<\/i> (punzamiento estrictamente) son indican\u00a0direcci\u00f3n. Son comunes en planicies de mareas, aunque tambi\u00e9n ocurren en los margenes de los r\u00edos y lagunas.
